The Centre for Business and Professional Ethics (CBPE)
at the University of Pretoria, in partnership with the Public
Service Commission (PSC), will be hosting a conference on “Living
Ethics” on the 14-16 march 2011. The conference is aimed at raising
awareness on and promoting professional ethics as well as closing the
gap between” talking about” and “living” ethical practice.
Key speakers from civil society, government and academia, as well as
the media are expected to address the conference. These include, amongst
others,
- Ms Ferial Haffajee (City Press)
- Prof Pierre De Vos (UCT) and
- Mr Hennie van Vuuren (ISS)
One of the main focus areas the conference will address will be how to
enhance integrity in government departments. The Constitution will also be
examined to establish how it can contribute towards building integrity, in
terms of balancing “rights and responsibilities”.
Media are invited to cover the event.
