Public Service Commission to host Roundtable on Government Support focusing on functional accommodation for service delivery

15 November 2022

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has noted with concern the numerous reports of inefficiencies in the provision of functional accommodation, and the negative impact thereof on service delivery. These include complaints from departments which range from buildings that are not properly maintained to those deemed to be unsafe as they posed serious risks to the lives of the occupants. It is against this background that the PSC identified the need to conduct a study on the effectiveness of government support focusing on functional accommodation for service delivery.

As part of this project, the PSC will be hosting a Roundtable on Wednesday, 16 November 2022 which will focus on understanding the key challenges affecting departments in the provision of functional accommodation by the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, including capacity challenges within the departments and reaching an agreement with accountable role players to resolve short, medium and long-term issues. The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure, Ms N Ntobongwana will deliver an address to set the scene and share her message of support and commitment. The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Ms Patricia de Lille will also deliver a message of support and commitment to addressing the critical issues to facilitate effective and efficient provision of functional accommodation for service delivery.
