PSC in the Free State to host the Citizens' Forum to engage government and the citizens on solutions to curb drug and substance abuse in the Free State

In an effort to contribute towards the fight against the scourge of drug and substance abuse in communities, the Public Service Commission (PSC) will host the Citizens' Forum on Tuesday, 29 November 2022, in Bloemfontein.

The Citizens' Forum will enable stakeholders including government departments to engage in discussions with the citizens, with a view to develop solutions to curb drug and substance abuse in communities. The Premier of the Free State Province, Ms S Ntombela will deliver a message of support. The Members of the Executive Council (MECs) and/ or Heads of Department (HODs) from the Provincial Departments of Social Development; Education; Health and Economic Development will make presentations on their Departments' plans to assist in the fight against drug and substance abuse. MECs of other departments and HODs will also attend the event to make inputs.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service and Correctional Services; and Provincial Heads of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, Home Affairs, and the National Prosecuting Authority will also be in attendance, to share information on legislative and policy framework regarding the fight against drug and substance abuse, and propose solutions going forward.
