PSC Chairperson Elected as Vice President of the Association of African Public Service Commissions

The Public Service Commission (PSC) would like to congratulate its Chairperson, Professor Somadoda Fikeni for being elected as the Vice President
(Southern African Region) of the Association of African Public Service Commissions (AAPSComs) with the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission
of Kenya, Ambassador Anthony Muchiri, elected as the AAPSComs President, during its 6th Elective General Assembly and Conference held from
06-08 November 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The meeting which was held under the theme, "Driving Public Service Delivery Transformation through Innovation and Technology", provided a platform
for delegates to deliberate and share experiences and best practices among Public Service Commissions in the Continent and showcase impactful
people-centered public service delivery reforms.
Reflecting on his election as Vice President of AAPSComs representing Southern Africa, Professor Fikeni said: "I will, together with the Chairpersons
of the PSCs within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Region, drive the agenda of an impactful and developmental professionalisation of
the Public Service within the Continent".
The AAPSComs was established at a meeting of Chairpersons of African Public Service Commissions on 09 April 2008 in Kampala, Uganda. It was at this
meeting that the late Chairperson of the South African Public Service Commission, Professor Stan Sangweni was appointed interim President of AAPSComs.
He was later appointed President of AAPSComs at the Launch of the AAPSComs and the first general assembly on 18 February 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Public Service Commission of Africa plays a fundamental role in promoting and maintaining good governance and public administration on the continent.
They have a responsibility of driving a common vision of African public service.
Professor Fikeni is also Chairperson of the SADC PSCs.
